Atlas has risen! Further details are expected in 2018
Recently unveiled, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas will try to mark a new chapter in the story of the brand. Indeed, this is the same old generic story and we have heard it thousands of times: a new model, new beginning and new features. However, we are interested in what this bad boy has to offer. So, let's waste no more time and check it out!
Just like many of brand's contemporary vehicles, the new Atlas comes with the award-winning Modular Transverse Matrix architecture. It is also a bit larger than the predecessors. However, it retains some already known details: standard LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and the optional LED taillights. Nice.
In terms of interior styling, new Atlas benefits from the enlarged proportions and offers ample cabin space. The third row can be reached by innovative folding seat solutions and the setup allows additional child seat installation. As it comes to the driver, he will be placed in a comfortable seat with driver-oriented controls and technologies. The cabin features VW Car-Net system, smartphone integration, MirrorLink and premium 12-speaker audio system. Sweet.

Atlas will also offer some neat utility and safety systems. Just some of these include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning and more.
2018 will also meet the new vehicle with new drivetrain systems. Atlas comes with a choice of two engines: a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injected TSI four-cylinder machine with 238hp and a larger and more powerful 3.6-liter VR6 with 280hp. Both units can be paired to an eight-speed gearbox. Sweet.
The vehicle will be built at the Volkswagen Chattanooga assembly plant and it is expected to be one of the most environmentally-friendly built machines.
