What happens when 272HP aren’t enough? Meet the powerful B&B Audi A4
B&B Automobiltechnik is one of the main featured tuning companies in our blog. Their latest project is based on the favorited Audi A4, equipped with the strongest engine, namely – the 3.0 TDI. As a standard it comes with 272 hp (200 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. However, the 272 number wasn't enough for the driver of this car. So the tuners stepped in with a special three stage conversion program. What is more, there are some changes made to the handling and appearance of the A4, we should also mention. Here are the details.
Three Stages for Perfect Output
The first stage pumps up the output of the V6 to 310 hp (228 kW) and 670 Nm (495 lb-ft). Stage 2 brings the numbers to 326 hp (240 kW) with 695 Nm (513 lb-ft). The final stage swells the output to the impressive 350 hp (257 kW) and 725 Nm (535 lb-ft). All three upgrade stages feature adaptation software for the eight-speed Tiptronic transmission. In addition, the factory electronic Vmax limiter was removed.
In order to achieve 365 hp (268 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque, B&B's Stage 3 conversion can additionally use a bespoke turbocharger with modified downpipe and sports catalyst to increase system flow and reduce exhaust backpressure.

What happens against the stopwatch? Well, the results are impressive: the 0-100 km/h sprint is reduced from 5.4 sec to 4.5 sec, while the top speed goes up from 250 km/h to 275 km/h.
If one drives the S4 3.0 TFSI range flagship, equipped with the turbocharged, direct-injection V6, then the stock 354 hp (260 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft) of torque, then the stages will make it up to 450 hp (330 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft).
Other Options Available
When it comes to output improvement, the B&B recommends adding their thermostatically-controlled oil cooling system, which will keep the engine's life giving fluids within factory limits. In addition, for better handing and on-road presence, B&B has added a sport spring set, which lowers the ride height by 35 mm.
Furthermore, the chassis behaviour has been improved via the in-house made coilover suspension that offers the options of adjustable ride height, and separately adjustable damper bounce and rebound control. On the other hand, the electronically controlled DDC coilover kit allows the person behind the wheel to choose comfort or sport settings at the touch of a button.
Furthermore, the new B&B Automobiltechnik Audi A4 has been dressed with the perfect outfit for an uprated output. The added tailor made sports outfit comprises of high-quality Caractere aerodynamic package, and B&B's in-house light-alloy wheels in 19 and 20-inch sizes. Of course, behind the alloys, high performance brake system catches the attention. At last, but not least, there is a brand new sports exhaust system and tips along with a sound generator, for more menacing presence in the streets.
