BMW 1 Series M
Finally, BMW has released full information and details about 1-Series M Coupe. The car really "embodies the unmistakable M feeling in a highly concentrated form."
1-Series M Coupe features aggressive front bumper, bi-xenon headlights with LED eyebrows, flared wheel arches, and 19" light-weight alloy wheels fitted with run-on-flat tires. There will be only three exterior colors - Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic and Valencia Orange Metallic.
The interior boats sports seats, Boston leather upholstery, and Alcantara trim. It also has a revised instrument cluster, a sport steering wheel, and orange contrast stitching. The options list is long, but the most important extras are dual-zone automatic climate control, comfort access, a Harman Kardon audio system, BMW ConnectedDrive and GPS navigation with an 8.8" display.
The engine has a real ///M spirit and as you may expect it is a twin-turbo 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder with 340PS (250 kW) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The car is a bit heavy, considering it is a 1 series - 1495kg (3295 lb), but it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and the more important discipline from 0 to 200 km/h is covered in 17.3 seconds. The top speed is electronically-limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). However, the small car still manages to return 24.5 mpg (9.6 liter/100 km) and CO2 emission of 224 g/km.
The suspension is aluminum-intensive, which uses a double pivot front axle and a five-link rear. Furthermore, the coupe has been fitted with an M differential that responds to differences in rotational speeds in the right and left rear wheel, redirecting drive torque within a fraction of a second to maintain perfect traction.
In terms of safety, BMW 1-Series M Coupe has DSC, ABS, ASC, DBC and CBC. The breaking system is just staggering - internally-ventilated cast iron discs - that measure 360mm front and 350mm rear.
2011 BMW 1-Series M Coupe is priced at €50 500.
