Citroen Metropolis Concept fully revealed
Citroen, the French sporty automaker has unleashed an all-new, remarkable concept ride dubbed Citroen Metropolis Concept. Shaped in ultra-muscular and natty styling, the new Metropolis concept will celebrate its first public appearance at the upcoming Beijing Auto Fair 2010.
The future Citroen ride is engineered by international design team based in Shanghai and mirrors the China's avant-garde forms, grandeur and vitality. Typically in the path of the new creations, the elegant Metropolis limousine utilizes plug-in hybrid drivetrain technology and Hydractive suspension, which results in stunning road experience and environmental friendliness: CO2 emissions of just 70g/km - approximately one fifth of a conventional engine with equivalent performance.
The ride's vigor hybrid drivetrain features a 2.0-litres V6 petrol power unit mated to a 7-speed, dual-clutch electronic gearbox. At low speeds, the Metropolis concept drives in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mode, with its electric motor producing a continuous 55 horsepower (40kW), peaking at 95 horsepower (70kW) . At higher speeds on main roads and highways, the petrol engine delivers 272 horsepower (200kW) and 375 Nm of maximum torque. When more performance is needed, such as during overtaking, the car uses both the electric motor and the combustion engine to top a maximum power output of 460 horsepower (345kW) and 430Nm of torque - equivalent to a 4.0-litres V8 petrol engine. For extra grip, the car also packs a four-wheel drive mode.
