Porsche Cayman R debuts at LA Auto Show
Porsche has officially unveiled the detail specifications and images on its all-new R-titled, monstrous ride - the 2011 Porsche Cayman R. Ready for its public premiere today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the staggering racy Cayman R offers petrol heads 55 kilograms (121 lb) lighter body and ten horsepower more powerful plant than the famous Cayman S.
The stunning mid-engine coupe takes its power from a specially tuned 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine with 330 horsepower (243 kW), which fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox (standard) catapults the 2-seater from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds. Optionally, Porsche is offering an even faster - seven-speed PDK transmission, which reduces the 0 to 100 km/h time interval to 4.9 seconds, as well as Sport Chrono packages that are further capable to shorten that interval to 4.7 seconds.
In the terms of fuel consumption, the 2011 Porsche Cayman R estimates 9.7 l/100 km (29.12 mpg) with six-speed gearbox and 9.3 l/100 km (30.37 mpg) with PDK.
Visually, Porsche's new beast vehicle benefits from 20 millimeters lowering in comparison with the Cayman S, and has distinctive fixed rear spoiler, sleek silver-finished alloys and long list of sporting goodies on both the interior and exterior.
The extraordinary sporty Porsche Cayman R is scheduled for market launch from February 2011. Its price tag on the German market is expected to be 69,830 Euro, including VAT.
