Skoda Auto at THE MOSCOW MOTOR SHOW
Skoda Auto is going to take part in the Moscow Motor Show (28 August – 7 September, 2008). The Company will stage two premieres on this occasion, its flagship model Skoda Superb and vehicles produced in Kaluga, Russia.
Having its world premiere, the new Superb to be presented at the upcoming event is fitted with Skoda's most powerful petrol engine (3.6 FSI V6, 191 kW) giving the vehicle 0 - 100 km/h acceleration in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The 3.6 FSI V6 engine comes with the latest automatic six-speed transmission (DSG) and four-wheel drive. The Superb will be available also with other engines – 1.9 TDI PD DPF 77 kW, 2.0 TDI PD DPF 103 kW, 2.0 TDI CR DPF 125 kW (diesel units, also four wheel-drive) and 1.4 TSI 92 kW and 1.8 TSI 118 kW (petrol units, also four-wheel drive). In addition to that, Skoda will offer its environmentally-friendly version of the Superb (CO2 emissions 136g/km).
Along with the new Superb, Skoda is going to present its complete portfolio, including the attractive Fabia Sport (red body, white roof), the Octavia RS, the Octavia Combi Scout 4x4 and the Roomster, as well as its brand new design concept for exhibitions and trade fair presentations.
A joint project between Skoda Auto and VW, the plant in Kaluga was opened in late 2007, assembling the Octavia, the Octavia Tour and the Fabia. However, Skoda Auto's plan is to start producing its complete portfolio in Kaluga by 2009. Sold in Russia in 1908 for the first time, Skoda vehicles are very popular and successful in the country - the sales figures have been doubling every year for quite some time (7,537 vehicles delivered to customers in 2005, 14,835 in 2006, 27,535 in 2007 and 28,658 over the first seven months of 2008).
