Mitsubishi XRT Concept (2023)
Mitsubishi XRT Concept
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation will showcase the Mitsubishi XRT Concept at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show. This concept car is based on the all-new Triton pickup truck, set to launch in fiscal year 2023. The Triton is Mitsubishi's best-selling model and is produced at the Laemchabang Factory in Thailand. It is exported to approximately 150 countries worldwide and is the company's global strategic vehicle. The all-new Triton is the sixth generation of the brand's midsize pickup truck and will be released sequentially in the ASEAN region, Oceania, and other global markets after its launch in Thailand.
The Mitsubishi XRT Concept features a fierce expression on the front and a robust hood that extends to the side with bold, horizontally-themed styling. It is equipped with front and rear over fenders and mud-terrain tires, making it capable of competing in grueling rallies and dashing across the terrain. The body has a camouflage design inspired by lava rocks packed with condensed energy, and the sides are adorned with a graphic of the 10-parallel line Ralliart brand icon that expresses Mitsubishi's passion for driving.
Team Mitsubishi Ralliart plans to compete with a prototype cross-country model of the all-new Triton (Group T1 specifications) at the Asia Cross Country Rally 2023. Hiroshi Masuoka, a two-time Dakar Rally champion driver, will stay on as team director, and Mitsubishi Motors engineers will provide support at the rally. Mitsubishi Motors uses expertise gained from rallies to develop its production vehicles and create vehicles with Mitsubishi-ness that offer safe, comfortable driving enjoyment in any weather or road conditions.
Takao Kato, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors, said, "Fiscal 2023 is an important year for Mitsubishi Motors to accelerate our business in the ASEAN region, with the launch of a fully revamped Triton and an all-new compact SUV. The all-new Triton is going through final touch-ups in preparation for its release, as we have performed rigorous endurance tests around the world while also incorporating the know-how gained from rally activities. With the new vehicle launches as the centerpiece, we will continue our drive toward further growth. Please look forward to the future of Mitsubishi Motors."
