Volkswagen Beetle Ragster (2005)
Volkswagen Beetle Ragster
Volkswagen is showcasing the potential of the New VW Beetle Ragster at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This iconic car has a unique and recognizable design, with over 800,000 drivers worldwide. The 2005 VW Beetle Ragster study has a distinctive feature - a lowered roof with a large ragtop. This car is a statement and a way of life.
The development team created the Ragster by shortening the A-pillars by about 90 millimeters and using a set u-shaped roof fixing for the Ragtop’s frame. This gave the car a ragtop and speedster dimensions and the name "Ragster".
The Ragster features a new design that includes updated fenders, bumpers, headlights, tail lights, and 19" aluminum rims. The interior also underwent a redesign, featuring racing car bucket seats and a sports car-type steering wheel with an integrated engine start button and ragtop control. The center console and cargo area are also newly designed, with a clean and minimalist look.
The Ragster offers various options for power, including a powerful gasoline engine or a high torque TDI, but it is not yet decided which motor will be built or if the study will go into series production. The study on the New VW Beetle Ragster was first presented in Detroit, just like the Concept 1.
